Decoration Tips to Make Your Small Bathroom Seem Larger

Most of us dream of having a vast, spacious bathroom. But when in reality, we have the reverse, which is quite small with the physical limitations preventing us from expanding, we just have to find alternatives to make it look bigger.

Even if your bathroom is small, you don’t have to let it look small. So, we have a list of tips that will help make your space come out bigger.  Be sure to check out our painting tips and bathroom colors that will make your small bathroom seem larger.

Tips to Make Your Small Bathroom Seem Larger

1. Keep Everything the Same Color

It seems cluttered when you make use of lots of different colors and patterns in your bathroom. It breaks the room up so it feels smaller.

Using an all-room uniform, light color would open it up and give the impression of a larger, brighter space.

2. Go with White

One of the best ways to give your space a spacious look is to use lots of white colors. Starting with paint colors on the walls, tile, white vanity, cabinets, etc.

This color recedes naturally, making the room appear bigger. It also reflects, rather than absorb any available light. This also provides a more seamless, unbroken look in the space, as most bathroom fixtures appear to be white.

3. Get a Big Mirror

A big mirror will double the amount of free space you have. Instead of only hanging a small mirror in the bathroom over the sink, suggest mirroring an entire wall, or at least a significant part.

This serves as a window to allow a lot more light into the room and to create the illusion of a much larger space. The effect can be so strong that little more is required to make the room look perfectly finished.

4. Apply Bright Lighting

Sometimes small bathrooms can look dim. Good lighting is important to make any space look large and spacious, but it's particularly important in bathrooms, which often have little natural light available.

In general, the lighting makes the room look better and expands the space so it appears bigger.

5. Go for a Glass Shower Door

If you are working on building your little bathroom from scratch, consider scrapping the curtain completely. In a small bath, glass shower doors will help open up the room.

For a broader look, the room's whole square footage would be noticeable at once.

6. Reduce the Number of Accessories

You already have a small bathroom space and you should avoid anything that makes it look even more cluttered and lacking in space.

If you don't really need a big storage, consider having a little more open space with a smaller vanity.

7. Create long lines

You need to draw your eye to the widest spot in the room to provide you a better impression of the entire space. This can be done by highlighting the room 's longest line. Colors of paint help to direct the eyes in a tiny or small bathroom.

The human eye is directed up and around the room, with vertical and horizontal lines. That, in turn, makes it look bigger than it really is. By painting a horizontal line, the space would appear bigger.

8. Use Open Shelves

Instead of getting a shelving unit installed, opt instead for open shelving. Open shelves can add a lot of visual dimension which makes the walls seem more distant than they really are.

Conclusion

Space or money cannot and should not stop you from creating a bigger bathroom space, even if you have to create an illusion.

With the aforementioned tips, you can make your tiny bathroom look like the kind of large bathroom you’d always dreamed of, even without breaking the bank.
